Who is the book for?
Employees may value personal memories and workplace changes, while outside readers need more context. Choose a central purpose that holds the publication together. A book intended to remain useful after the anniversary should date information likely to change.
Agree the budget, approximate quantity and project coordinator. Identify who approves the text, brand presentation and production expenditure. Several departments can contribute, but their decisions need a shared route.
How should the history be structured?
Chronology is a useful starting point, but chapters may also focus on people, workplaces or products. A list of achievements needs editorial development to become a readable account. Establish the contents before collecting unlimited material.
Record sources, dates and the person responsible for checking each image or document. If interviews are planned, assign their recording, editing and approval. Those editorial tasks are distinct from designing the book.
How should the design relate to the brand?
Supply current brand guidelines and original logo files. A book must support sustained reading as well as recognisable branding. Evaluate the design using actual text, archive images and more complex pages.
A timeline is a sequence of dated events. Test it with the real amount of information rather than short placeholder headings, so that the design remains readable throughout the book.
How I work on these publications. Album and catalogue layout starts at PLN 75 net per page. Shorter commemorative publications start at PLN 70 net per page, with covers from PLN 200 net. Client feedback is available in my references.
How are photographs and languages prepared?
Archive and contemporary photographs may need different treatment to work together. Send the best available originals, agreed captions and usage information. Retouching is assessed from the actual files.
For a bilingual publication, decide whether languages appear alongside each other, in separate sections or in separate editions. Supply approved translations of captions, headings and cover text as well as the chapters. Bilingual typesetting does not automatically include translation or language editing.
Which editions and finishes are needed?
Consider the book's size, weight, paper and opening behaviour as well as its gift value. Special finishing means additional treatments such as coatings or embossing. Availability, cost and timing must be checked for the individual order.
Treat the online PDF as a defined deliverable with its own reading and accessibility requirements. Count recipients and future distribution needs before deciding the print quantity. A shorter anniversary brochure may suit a more focused event publication.
How should approvals and delivery be scheduled?
Content. Set the deadline for archive contributions. Revisions. Consolidate departmental feedback through one coordinator. Approval. Record who authorises the final version and release to print.
I work with five trusted printing partners and can arrange printing and delivery. Timing depends on the specification and approval schedule.
